Global Volunteers, an ASTA partner, is the nation's long-time non-profit "volunteer vacations" leader. Graduated commissions paid to travel agents for completed volunteer applications. "Fam" trips available for partner agents. Founded in 1984, Global Volunteers offers more than 200 short-term and extended stay volunteer travel departures in 21 countries annually. Teams mobilized year-around in some 100 host communities worldwide. No prior experience or professional skills required, but volunteers must speak English and be in good health. Service work projects include teaching conversational English to children and adults, caring for orphaned babies and disabled children, constructing and repairing homes and community buildings, and assisting with health care. Tax-deductible service program fees range from $1,695 to $2,895 for international sites, airfare extra. One-week U.S. programs offered for $795 (including web discount).
